I was marked down in the past due to the car turning, but I still believe my car movement is better because it is more realistic and similar to other games, for example mario cart. I am assuming the reason it may seem like it does not work is because when you try to turn left or right, the car is at rest. I have added code to the car that makes it turn at a speed proportional to the car's velocity. So if you are not moving, the car won't turn and if you are moving slowly the car turns extremely slowly. If this is still not acceptable, then I can change it, but I really prefer the way my car moves compared to it turning at a constant angular velocity all the time.
